A new phase of my content journey
I’m changing how I create and consume content online.
For a long time I’ve been excited about Twitter. It’s a unique place where you can converse with people at all levels, in all locations, in all fields of expertise. Conversation happens, debate happens, and I can actually attribute a non-trivial amount of what I’ve achieved to being present there.
But, it’s changing too. Content on Twitter is increasingly becoming about maximising following, rather than meaningful discourse. It’s more and more difficult to find the signal amongst the noise.
Content is crafted to maximise engagement, maximise clicks and replies. Clickbait is becoming prevalent. People giving advice on topics they know nothing about, simply because it’s trendy.
As the quality of experience on Twitter degrades, I’m looking for higher quality, more meaningful content.
So, starting today, I’m making a big effort to shift my primary content creation and consumption to Substack. I’m looking for the thoughtful and credible creators to subscribe to.
And, I’ll be writing daily. Rather than firing off thoughts on Twitter, I’ll be investing more energy and more care into what I share.
I appreciate every subscriber, but will never be publishing to maximise number of subscribers. I want to contribute value and publish meaningful content that people may enjoy consuming.
This daily content will always be free.
A bit later I may consider what value I could give to a paid subscriber too, and introduce it only if it’s compelling. But the daily notes will be always free.
